Support Local Band Boosters at Fall Festival

The smell of fried food is in the air on the west side of Evansville. Fabled as the "second largest street festival next to Mardi Gras," the 98th West Side Nut Club Fall Festival is underway this week on Franklin Street. Many area organizations are working extremely hard during this week to raise funds for their groups by selling some of the yummiest food around. Interview with Matt Harloff

Matt Harloff joined the Carolina Crown staff as Brass Caption head in 2003, already with multiple I.S.S.M.A. State marching championships to his credit as director of the Avon Marching Black and Gold.  Harloff grew up in Iowa, but has close family connections to the Tri-State as his father, Bill Harloff, directed the Mt. Vernon Wildcat Band for many years as the family relocated to Mt. Vernon in 1991. 2019 Local Focus: Maria Arzuagas

Maria Arzuagas from Edwardsville, IL will be performing with the Music City Color Guard this Summer. Color guard is her life’s passion, starting as a Freshman at Edwardsville High School in the Marching Band in 2014, and participating in Winter Guard all four years of High School. She also marched The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with the Macy’s Great American Marching Band in 2016 and 2017. 2019 Local Focus: Jackie Zheng

Marching with Music City this year is Jackie Zheng from Madisonville, KY. This Fall, he will be a Junior at Madisonville North Hopkins High School and he is a trumpet player. The reason Jackie joined Music City was because his sister marched with them in 2016. DRUMS on the OHIO is excited to welcome Music City back to Reitz Bowl on June 24. Joining them again this year is Matthew Zoch from Mount Vernon, IN. Matthew is currently a Sophomore at Murray State University, majoring in Music Business. 2019 Local Focus: Andrew Koch

Performing with Phantom Regiment again this season is Reitz High School graduate Andrew Koch. In the Fall, Andrew will be attending his fourth year at Indiana State University where he studies Music Education. He is a member of the baritone section in the university’s marching band and he has also participated in the ISU Wind Symphony as the principal euphonium. 2019 Local Focus: Thomas Weber

Newburgh native and Castle High School graduate Thomas Weber will be performing his second season with Phantom Regiment. During high school, Thomas qualified for state finals individually along with winning several BOA regionals and performed in BOA Grand Nationals with the Marching Knights. The Boston Crusaders will be returning to DRUMS on the OHIO on June 24. Seth Patterson from Evansville, Indiana will joining them. This will be Seth’s second year with Boston.
