ABOUT THE EVENT

Local color guard instructors will lead an energetic and fun-filled morning of excellent guard development skills. Students of ALL skill levels are invited to participate. Classes will be offered on Flag (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced), Rifle (Beginner, Intermediate to Advanced), and Sabre (Beginner, Intermediate to Advanced).

WHAT CLASSES ARE OFFERED:
Classes will be available on Flag, Rifle, and Sabre.

WHAT TO BRING:
Water jug, hat, sunscreen, and sensible shoes along with a small snack during breaks.

Students should also plan on bringing their own equipment that they plan on spinning (Flag, Rifle, Sabre). Spinning weapon is not required. There will be a limited amount of extra equipment to borrow on a first come/first serve basis and will be checked in/out at registration.

WHAT TO EXPECT:
After registration, students will split out into their classes. Students will work with instructors as a group to work on skills and a basic routine. At the end of the class sessions, all groups will come back together and each group will do a “Show and Tell” performance of the routine that was learned during their class.

REGISTER BY JUNE 9 TO RECEIVE A FREE EVENT SHIRT.
After June 9, we cannot guarantee you will receive a shirt.



NATIONAL ANTHEM AT DRUMS ON THE OHIO:

Participants of the Tri-State Color Guard Clinic are eligible to present flags during the playing of the National Anthem prior to the beginning of DRUMS on the OHIO.  Those who would like to participate would need to meet at the Field House in Reitz Bowl at 6:30PM on the evening of June 24.

GUARD CLINIC CLASSES

FLAG LEVEL 1:
BEGINNER

This class is for those who have never spun, or have only the most basic level skills. Expect choreography that involves an emphasis on reinforcing basic training skills.

FLAG LEVEL 2:
INTERMEDIATE

This class is for those who have been through a full year of color guard at their home program, and are eager to learn choreography that offers a more complex range of skills.

FLAG LEVEL 3:
ADVANCED

This class would be for those who seek to learn detailed choreography that emphasizes attention to body and equipment with faster paced instruction. May involve advanced tosses that explore various planes and higher rotations.

Students in this class should have been through a full year of color guard at their home program and should have basic 45 toss skills.

RIFLE LEVEL 1:
BEGINNER

This class is for those who have never spun a rifle, or have only the most basic level skills. Expect choreography that involves an emphasis on reinforcing basic training skills.

RIFLE LEVEL 2:
INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED

This class would be for those who seek to learn detailed choreography that will allow an easier intermediate version or the addition of body/increase toss for a more challenging version. May involve advanced tosses that explore various planes and higher rotations.

Students in this class should have been through a full year of color guard at their home program and should be able to handle at least a double.

SABRE LEVEL 1:
BEGINNER

This class is for those who have never spun a sabre, or have only the most basic level skills. Expect choreography that involves an emphasis on reinforcing basic training skills.

SABRE LEVEL 2:
INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED

This class would be for those who seek to learn detailed choreography that will allow an easier intermediate version or the addition of body/increase toss for a more challenging version. May involve advanced tosses that explore various planes and higher rotations.

Students in this class should have been through a full year of color guard at their home program and should be able to handle at least a double.
