Phantom Regiment was founded by members of the Col. Thomas G. Lawler VFW Post 342 who desired a local competitive drum corps. The corps was originally named the “Rockford Rangers” with all-boy drums and bugles sections and an all-girl color guard to be named the “Rangerettes.”

As the originator of all classical pageantry, Phantom Regiment combines the complexity and grandeur of timeless music with the clarity and impact of world-class drum corps. The corps is a long-standing member of Drum Corps International, having been a DCI World Championship Top Twelve Finalist every year since 1974 and DCI World Champions in 1996 and 2008. Phantom Regiment is comprised of performers with previous experience as musicians, dancers and color guard members. The Regiment schedule is demanding and intense, including multiple winter and spring rehearsal camps followed by a national tour in the summer.
